Certamen Victories

Advanced Certamen Takes Home the Trophy

The Massachusetts Advanced Certamen team took home the trophy this year. The team, composed of the BLS students Nestoras, Dante, Jonathan, Ting, Anna, and Ashley, made it through to the finals where they competed against Virginia and Florida. In what is sure to go down as one of the most nail-biting games of Certamen in recent history: Florida finished with 85 points, Virginia finished with 110 point and, winning the final match, Massachusetts edged ahead of the competition with 115 points. While everyone on the team is sure to feel proud, two students from the team have particular reason to celebrate. Nestoras was named as MVP of the tournament and Dante was inducted into the Certamen Hall of Fame for winning the National's Certamen twice.

Our very own Maddie Bedard and Ruth Weaver won first place at That's Entertainment this year! Ruth sang the song La Vie En Rose both in English and in French (originally by Edith Piaf) and was accompanied by Maddie on the ukelele. The competition was fierce but in the end Ruth and Maddie's performance won over the judges' hearts.
